TRAINING BY HEART RATE

This calculator suggests suitable training heart rates for a healthy individual training for the Etape du Tour.

Two heart rates are calculated:- an early season level, approximateing to riding at 60% of your maximum power, and a more strenuous level, equivalent to approximately 75% of your maximum output power. These levels should be reasonably sustainable over distances ridden in the Etape du Tour. Please treat them as suggestions rather than rules - everyone is different!

TRAINING LEVEL CALCULATOR

Enter Maximum Heart Rate:- Beats/Minute
Enter Minimum Heart Rate:- Beats/Minute

EARLY SEASON TRAINING LEVEL (60% of HRR) = Beat/Minute

STRENUOUS TRAINING LEVEL   (75% of HRR)   =   Beat/Minute

Notes: If you do not know your maximum heart rate, you may use the standard formula: 220 minus your age.
The minimum heart rate here should be when you are fully awake, seated, but doing no mechanical work - typically 60 or 70 bpm.
You may notice that your minimum heart rate will differ greatly depending on whether you are lying in bed, sitting down or sitting on your bike anticipating a ride!
